Virginia Vines

Mrs. Virginia Vines, 85, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness.  She was born in McClure, Va., and was the daughter of the late Emory and Lola Russell Hoss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Vines; a son, Fred Dale Vines; and an infant son, Kale David Vines; a sister, Nancy Hoss; a brother, Jack Hoss; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Hoss.

 

Mrs. Vines was a member of the Hampton Order of the Eastern Star No. 470 and the Union Baptist Church.  She served the community of Hampton in the PTA and as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.  She was retired from East Tennessee Undergarment where she worked as a seamstress.

 

Mrs. Vines is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Jean James and her husband, Jesse, Hampton; Karen Ann Jaynes and her husband, Eddie, Piney Flats; a son, Kenneth Vines and his wife, Delores, Blountville; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Stout, Elizabethton; and a daughter-in-law, Sara Vines, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family requests the comfort and honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor Mrs. Vines to be conducted on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell and the Rev. Danny Bright officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. prior to the service, or at the home of her daughter, Carolyn James, at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Austin Vines, Nick Vines, Dakota Grindstaff, Brian Grindstaff, Sam Grindstaff and Wayne McClain. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family wishes to express a very heartfelt thank you to the nurses and CNAs at Life Care Center of Elizabethton and Amedisys Hospice for the loving care given to Mrs. Vines and her family during her stay there.
