Donie P. Julian

 

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13 KJV Donie Pierce Julian, 70, 1306 Lowe Street, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn., born to the late William Pierce and Florence Destie Johnson Julian. Mr. Julian was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church. He retired in 2001 following 19 years of service as a Carter County Deputy Sheriff, two years of which was with the First Judicial District Drug Task Force. Mr. Julian was the owner/operator of Julian’s Marine Repair. He had also worked for the Carter County Board of Education as a bus driver. He was an avid bear hunter and fisherman and a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM. Mr. Julian served in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Julian.

 

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Hattie Joyce G. Julian, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Renita and James Bunten, Elizabethton, and Jennifer and James Hughes Jr., Greeneville; six grandchildren, Bethany Hughes, Jamie Hughes, Amara Bunten, Rachel Hughes, Aundria Bunten and Alena Bunten; a brother and sister-in-law, D.H. “Bud” and Charolette Julian, Elizabethton; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nadine and George Greer, Janice Garland and Jo and Al Hughes, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and special friends, Henry Lowrance, Pat Lewis, Jimmy Peters, Larry Peters, Ralph Simmons, Johnny Holder, Gary Smith, Brad Smith, Don Wilson and David Russell, also survive.

 

The funeral service for Mr. Julian will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, October 30, at the East Side Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Justin Deaton, Preacher Howard Messer and Dr. Richard Adams officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kathy Lethcoe and Al Hughes. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Local law enforcement officers will provide honor guard services. Friends may also call at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Preacher Mark Simmons officiating. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post No. 49. Active pallbearers will be James William Hughes III, Chris Hughes, Rick Nidiffer, Bobby Wilson, Larry Steve Peters, David Holder, Darrell Hampton, Matthew Lipford and Mitchell Lipford. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of East Side Free Will Baptist Church, members of the Men’s Class of East Side Free Will Baptist Church, the Hall Class of East Side Free Will Baptist Church, employees of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, former co-workers of Julian’s Marine Repair, members of the Carter County Hunting and Fishing Club, the Daniel Boone Hunting Club, the Big Neck Hunting Club, Jim Henson, Dave Powell, John Henson and Tom White. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the audio and video ministry of East Side Free Will Baptist Church, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Isabella Grace Shields-Chambers

 

Isabella Grace Shields-Chambers, baby daughter of Holly Shields and Jamie Chambers, went to Heaven on Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

 

She is survived by both parents; a big brother, Nicholas Alexander; maternal grandparents, Jeanna Shields and Randy Shields; paternal grandparents, John and Linda Chambers; great-grandparents, Alma Ruth Cox and David and Louise Shields; aunts, Heather Shields and Hayley Shields; uncles, Hunter Shields, Shawn Chambers, BJ Miller and George Walker; and cousins, Jackson Miller and Cody Chambers. Your family will miss you but Heaven has a new little Angel.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 30, in the Devotional Garden at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Maxine M. Little

 

Mrs. Maxine M. Little, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Ora T. and Mildred Simerly McKeehan. Mrs. Little was a 1945 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Valley Forge United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Little, who died June 19, 1988, a sister, Wanda Adams, and a brother, Tommy McKeehan.

 

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Little; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Debbie Little; a grandson, Alan Little; a granddaughter, Jennifer Hicks and her husband Brian; two great-grandsons, Bryson and Brody Hicks; a sister, Dorothy Clement; and a cousin, Wilma McKeehan.

 

Graveside services for Mrs. Little will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 29, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Lon Tobin officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be John Clement, Alvin McKinney, Mike Nidiffer, Steve Dugger, Brian Hicks and Alan Little. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaley, Mike, Mark, Jeff and Ryan Clement, Ray and Jana Flynn, Charles Ailsworth, Tommy Lynn, Melissa and Kevin Adams, Horace, Ruth, Jerry and Teresa Calhoun, Ken and Linda Arney, Charlsie, Phyllis, Glen and Dorothy, Ronnie and Marie, Robert, John and Kenneth Little, her special friends, Betty Barnett, Sue Johnson and Betty Jean Moore, all members of the congregation of the Valley Forge United Methodist Church, friends and neighbors.
