Mary B. Fisher
Mary B. Fisher, 83, of Johnson City, passed away quietly to meet her Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Monte Lee and Rosa McKeehan Buck. Mrs. Fisher was a 1944 graduate of Happy Valley High School and was a homemaker. She did a lot of volunteer work at several different institutions. Mrs. Fisher was a member of Brick Christian Church. She was an avid football fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Fisher, in 1989.
Survivors include a son, Harry E. Fisher II, of the home; a grandson, Timothy B. Fisher, Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, David Buck, Johnson City; and two sisters, Anna B. Walker, Johnson City, and June B. Pritchard, Montezuma, N.C. A number of loving nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fisher will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Gerald Holly and Rev. Mack Houston officiating. Music will be provided by Marion Mottern. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, will be Herb Curde, Benny Buck, Keith Buck, Cody Buck, Andrew Walker and Cory Walker. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a sister, Anna B. Walker. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Fisher to the donor’s favorite charity. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday. Trula T. Hubbard
Trula Troxell Hubbard, 78, of Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, October 30, 2009, at North Side Hospital. A native of Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Ethel Helton Troxell. Mrs. Hubbard had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a homemaker. She loved to work in her flower garden and she also loved her cats and dogs that were always by her side. Mrs. Hubbard was an active member of Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Earnest and Bill Troxell, and four sisters, Cozette Younce, Leona Ray, Thelma Goforth and Juanita Roberts.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Hubbard, Johnson City, and Sheila Hubbard, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sammy and Jewel Hubbard, Elizabethton, and Larry and Sonia Hubbard, Johnson City; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Lynn Dugger and Nola and Cecil Babb, all of Johnson City. Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hubbard will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joel Brown and Pastor Terry Horn officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Mr. Michael Bailey. Music will be provided by Louie Blevins and the Younce Family. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, at Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family members. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Rodric H. Greenwell
Rodric H. Greenwell, 84, 462 Dry Hollow Road, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, November 2, 2009, at Pine Ridge Care Center. A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Rodric and Glenn Smith Greenwell. Mr. Greenwell was a retired employee of Jarl Extrusions. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Greenwell, a son, Charles Greenwell, two sisters, Opal Bowling and Bernice Stout, and a brother, Dale Greenwell.
Survivors include a special niece and caregiver, Barbara Eggers, Elizabethton; a grandson, Seth Greenwell, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Louise Stansberry, Telford; several other nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Dennis Williams.
Graveside services and interment for Mr. Greenwell will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, in the Grindstaff Cemetery (Stoney Creek). Ella M. Greene
Ella Mae Blevins Arrowood Greene, 96, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Born in Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac L. and Mollie C. Elliot Blevins. Mrs. Greene was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her first husband in 1977, L.F. Arrowood; her second husband in 1985, R.T. Greene; and by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Lloyd F. Arrowood, Johnson City, Joseph L. Arrowood and wife Bobbie, Oak Ridge, Bill L. Arrowood and wife Peggy, Unicoi, and Ted R. Arrowood and wife Susan, Tallahassee, Fla. Six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Greene will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, at Tetrick Funeral Services with Rev. Scott Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. A graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends. Harry R. Russell
Harry Ross Russell, 66, 228 Piney Avenue, Piney Flats, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009, at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Russell was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Henry and Kate Scalf Russell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Herbert and Robert Russell, and a sister, Helen Treadway.
Survivors include his wife, Nyoka Bryan Russell, of the home; two daughters, Vicki Gurney of Cumming Ga., and Adrianna Potter of Bristol, Tenn.; a son, Brandon Trevor Russell of Piney Flats, Tenn.; two sisters, Ethel Barnett and Lela Davis, both of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a brother, Bill Russell of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Avery Gurney, Zoe Gurney and Kylie Snead.
The funeral service for Mr. Russell will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel, with Rev. Carl Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, and anytime at the residence. Paul A. Williams
Paul A. Williams, 88, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord, Saturday evening, October 31, 2009, at Wexford House after an extended illness. Paul was born in Elizabethton and had lived in Kingsport for the past 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army/Air Force during World War II. Paul was a retired photographer, having worked at WJHL and WKPT-TV. He was a member of Belvue Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. Brian and Nancy Williams, and an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Williams of Kingsport; two daughters, Buffy Elizabeth Coleman of Kingsport and Lois Carrier Maurice and husband David of Johnson City; two sons, Wayne Williams and wife Sherry of Piney Flats, Tenn., and Paul Williams Jr. and wife Debbie of Hampton, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Summer Coleman and Jordon Coleman; a sister, Louise Thomas of Jefferson City, Tenn.; a brother, B.C. Williams and wife Rose of California; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Andrew Griffith and Wilma Hutson.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, and also anytime at the residence of his daughter, 1505 Fuller Street. A service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Street officiating. A military graveside service will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, at Highland Cemetery in Elizabethton, Tenn., with the American Legion Post 3/265 and the Tennessee National Guard conducting the rites. Family and friends who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 15:55 p.m. Active pallbearers will be the Color Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Griffith, John Farthing, Lee Talbert and Allan Broyles.
