Eleanor M. McKinney

 

Eleanor Mae Williams Patterson McKinney, born February 4, 1921 to Carroll M. and Millie Louise Coddington Williams, died Monday, November 2, 2009. She married Dr. George W. Patterson in June 1939 and moved to Rygate, Vt., before moving to California. She and Dr. Patterson moved to Roan Mountain where they operated the Roan Mountain Medical Center for many years. She loved people, art and painting, music and flowers. She loved God and family. We look forward to seeing her in the new Earth. Mrs. McKinney was a member of God’s House Full Gospel Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Cushman, and a grandson, Joshua Cunningham.

 

Survivors include her husband, Jason McKinney; her children, Heather Blakely and husband Jerry, Sand Point, Idaho, Millie Louise Coleman and husband Mike, Portland, Ore., and George W. Patterson III and wife Nancy; her grandchildren, Marlene Buckner, Portland, Ore., Todd Buckner, Seattle, Wash., Jayne Swearingen, Glendale, Ore., Brandy Patterson, Staff Sgt. Hi-Kelly Patterson; and great-grandchildren, Brenten and Haley Swearingen and Kayla Patterson. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

 

The funeral service for Mrs. McKinney will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Music will be provided by the God’s House Singers and Will Evans. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 6, in the Yellow Mountain Cemetery, Newland, N.C. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Condolences to the McKinney family may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
