Vera N. Morris

 

Mrs. Vera Virginia Norris Morris, 91, Thomasville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, in Lexington Health Care Center. She was born in Watauga County, N.C., and was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary Regan Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jefferson Morris, in 1969; a daughter, Margaret Ann Braswell, in 1983, a granddaughter, Tracy Annette Morris, in 1970; a brother, Leige and three sisters, Lois, Ruby and Odenia. Mrs. Morris was a former member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church. She was a nurse’s aid and was presently a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She loved flowers and loved to garden.

 

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Henry Lee and Treva Morris, Thomasville, N.C.; Gary Dwayne and Vickie Morris, High Point, N.C.; Larry Wayne and Gloria Morris, Lexington, N.C.; a daughter, Nancy Sue Morris, Grand Rapids, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Chris, Kelly, Christopher, Rick, Rebecca, Diane, Sabrina, Jerry Wayne and Deane; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, A.J., Emily A., Hunter and Emily M.; a sister, Pearl Hansford, Newport News, Va.; four step-grandchildren, Norma, Trixie, Tammi, Nikki; eight step-great-grandchildren, Sierra, Emily, Savannah, Jasmine, Mikenzie, Dallas, Lynsney and Seth. Several nieces and nephews in Tennessee also survive.

 

The funeral service for Mrs. Morris will be conducted on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Dr. Joe Sorah officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Rick Arnett and Chris Morris, and others will be selected from family and friends.
