Outstanding prep career coming to close for Walz

Elizabethton senior Scout Walz is at the swan song of his high school swimming career.
He is no doubt the most talented athlete in the program’s history.
He is approaching his third straight trip to the state meet. He holds six school records.
“It’s been a great year,” Walz said before Wednesday’s practice. “It’s been fun with the team. We’re glad to have Justin here. He’s a great coach. He’s done a lot to help.”
Coach Justin Conway, in his second year, is grateful to have such a swimmer in his tutelage.
“Scout has been a pleasure to coach over these last two seasons,” Conway said. “He has blossomed into a great leader and motivator for his teammates. I know they would agree with me in saying that he has meant a great deal to the EHS swim team.”
