Nearly four months after the closing of Range Elementary, the Carter County Board of Education was told ownership of the property lies exclusively with it.
With that in mind, on Tuesday afternoon, Director of Schools Kevin Ward recommended the school system begin researching the possibility of auctioning the property to the highest bidder.
Before the property is auctioned, however, Ward said that the board will need to decide on the amount of money it wants to collect.
“My recommendation is to set a minimum on what we would ask for Range Elementary, and see what it would auction for,” Ward said. “Those funds could be very well-utilized to save us money in the future. My recommendation is that we sell it.”
