Roan Mountain State Park will offer a frightening good time with “Halloween in the Campground” on Saturday, Oct. 27.
This annual event, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., invites kids to wear their scariest costume while they go trick or treating from site to site in the campground.
The event will also offer a bonfire and haunted hayrides through the tent area of the campground. The park will provide hotdogs, buns, drinks, and marshmallows. Supplies will be limited, so you are welcome to bring your own.
To put into practice the concept of “the more, the merrier,” Roan Mountain State Park will discount its camping rates by 50 percent on Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27. Park staff hopes to fill the campground to capacity.
Campers are encouraged to decorate their individual sites and hand out treats to the trick or treaters.
The park will award three prizes to the three best-decorated sites. The first-place winner will receive a two-night stay in one of the park’s rental cabins. The second-place winner will receive three nights of free camping while the third-place winner will get two free nights of camping.
