Pictorial book will focus on Roan Mountain

It’s the Roan Mountain community’s turn to have its rich history documented, through a pictorial book published by Photo by Brandon HicksArcadia Publishing as a part of the “Images of America” series.

Being organized by Johnson City resident and former Elizabethton Star reporter Robert Sorrell, the book is expected to include about 200 historic photos of people and places, and Sorrell needs the community’s help to get it finished.

“I’m doing the first and only one for Roan Mountain,” Sorrell said. “I’ve just always loved Roan Mountain.”

Sorrell said he noticed the Carter County Images of America pictorial book by Jackie Peters and Dawn Trivette Peters did not include an in-depth look back on the history of the Roan Mountain community.
