Planning team nears final decision on strategic plan for county schools

With the Carter County Schools Long-Range Facilities Planning Team nearing the end of their 18-month project, the issue of scenarios and overcrowding took center-stage Friday afternoon. LRPT members gathered Friday at the central office to continue the ongoing discussion about the future of the school system over the course of the next 20 years.

In the last few months, the team has been developing scenarios, gathering data on student population and the overall condition of the 16 schools in Carter County to create a comprehensive strategic report for the school board and the county commission.

Carter County Interim Director of Schools Dr. Kevin Ward and LRPT member Keith Church have been developing a final scenario for the team’s strategic report. Ward and Church presented their report to the team during Friday afternoon’s meeting.
