Police: Active ‘one pot’ meth lab found in vehicle at CVS


The Elizabethton Police Department said they arrested two men after conducting a traffic stop on a van in the parking lot of CVS on West Elk Avenue on Sunday at about 6 p.m.

An active ‘one pot’ meth lab was found under the passenger’s seat and several meth-making components inside of a tool box inside the van, according to the EPD.

Elizabethton resident Anthony Lee Grindstaff, 33,  and Jonesborough resident Jay Allen Whaley, 51, were charged with initiation in the process to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine, promotion of methamphetamine and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Police initially stopped the van because it matched the description of a vehicle involved in a reported shoplifting at 1001 Overmountain Drive.
