Police: Man found sleeping in restaurant restroom arrested twice

A man who police say was sleeping in the restroom of the Elizabethton McDonald’s has been arrested twice in the past week.

Jimmy F. Mercer, 56, was arrested early Friday morning on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing. Officer Jordan Ensor of the Elizabethton Police Department said officers had been called to the restaurant, at 215 Broad Street, in reference to a male subject sleeping in the bathroom.

“Upon arrival, I went into the bathroom and noticed a sleeping bag in the floor of the stall,” Ensor said.
