Police: Truck pulled into car’s path causing crash
An officer with the Elizabethton Police Department says the driver of a Chevrolet S10 pulled into the path of a Mitsubishi Eclipse on Tuesday causing the vehicles to collide on Highway 19E, sending both drivers to the hospital.
Officer Robert Bradshaw reported that Brittney Tilson, 20, of Bristol, was attempting to pull out of Pete Hampton Drive onto Highway 19E on Tuesday at 8:55 a.m. Greene, driving the 1998 Chevrolet S10, pulled into the path of a southbound 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Rachel Greene, 25, of Johnson City. The vehicle collided, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
The Eclipse came to rest in the median/turn area of Highway 19E. The S10 truck stopped on the shoulder in the northbound lanes of the highway. Greene was extricated from the car by the Elizabethton Fire Department and Carter County Rescue Squad. Both drivers were taken to Sycamore Shoals Hospital for treatment.
Bradshaw charged Tilson with failure to yield with contact and failure to comply with financial responsibility.
