Project Red Energy explains waste-to-energy process for LEPC

A representative with Project Red Energy, a new company proposed for Carter County, informed the Local Emergency Planning Committee on Wednesday morning about possible dangers at its plant, although the risks are minimal.

During a meeting at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport, Charles Fritz, with Red Energy, said there are very few risks or dangers with the new company. Fritz said, “Red Energy is a developer, owner-operator of waste energy plants. We have the ability to convert waste streams into a number of things. For this location, we are talking about converting it into synthetic diesel and something called biochar.”

The company will use tires, plastics, municipal solid waste and other waste and convert it to synthetic diesel.
