A down-right ugly game had a pretty ending for Unaka on Monday night inside of Snavely Gymnasium. The Rangers held off a late surge from Happy Valley to win 64-58 in a non-conference affair.
It came on the heels of the Rangers’ 72-70 overtime win over Cosby on Saturday, where they overcame a 20- point deficit. Monday’s performance was a far cry from that, according to coach Aaron Dugger.
“Ugly, really ugly,” said Dugger. “It was a game of spurts all the way around, but again it was ugly. Give them credit because they played hard, didn’t quit and got back in it. We made some stupid fouls down the stretch, missed some free throws and turned the ball over. You factor in those things and a double-digit lead suddenly becomes four or five points. But it’s a win and we’ll take it.”
