Reader deplores lack of funds for animal care
Editor:
I want to respond to Linda Stewart’s letter about our animal shelter. I have been a volunteer for 32 years of helping with animals. I attend each meeting of the building committee and advisory board and help with the fundraising. I don’t recall seeing you at any of these meetings or events.
Yes, we are going to have to build a smaller shelter just because Carter County citizens don’t know how hard it is to get money for the animals. When was the last time you have been to visit at the animal shelter? Before you complain about the shelter you need to attend our meetings and see just how hard it to get something for the animals.
Yes, I was at the budget meeting on July 9, and I heard no one ask for any money for the shelter. The animals of Carter County have never had anything, and they never will if everyone keeps thinking negatively.
So, Ms. Stewart, I invite you to come and be a part of our meetings and help us to build a new shelter.
Thank you to everyone who has donated money and help with the fundraisers, and who have attended the meetings and shown their support.
