Relay co-chairs express gratitude to participants

On behalf of the Relay for Life Committee, I want to express our appreciation to the people of Carter County and to all the sponsors of our event this year. The STAR did a super job with their insert on Thursday that listed all the events that would take place and the wonderful articles on cancer survivors. We had close to 200 survivors to walk the survivor lap and we had 153 people who spent the entire night with us.

Because of the support of our community our goal of $125,000 will be reached and the programs of the American Cancer Society and its research can continue. Our goal is not just to raise money, but to raise awareness about the programs the ACS offers as well as awareness of how many cancers can be prevented and treated with early detection. We want to wipe out cancer so that babies being born today will have to go to the dictionary to find out what the word cancer means.
