Rescue squad withdraws funding request

The Carter County Rescue Squad has officially withdrawn a request for additional funds from the Carter County Commission and will seek other methods to increase revenue. To accomplish its goal, the agency is also seeking a five-year exclusive franchise agreement with the county.

Richard Norris, counsel for the Carter County Rescue Squad, submitted a letter to the Carter County Commission Monday morning stating that the squad is withdrawing a previous letter asking for additional funding.

Richard Norris, the squad’s legal counsel, submitted a letter to the county commission Monday morning, notifying commissioners the agency is no longer seeking $241,000.

“This letter is the result of a meeting that was held late last week,” Commission Chairman Tom “Yogi” Bowers said.
