GRAY— Unaka put itself in “perfect position” to win Thursday’s semifinal game with Ridgeview by mounting a 14-point comeback in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, perfect position at the end wouldn’t determine the outcome of a classic contest.
The Lady Raptors played well in a thrilling 64-52 win in double overtime on their home court in the semifinals of the small schools regional. Lily Griffith’s putback with one second remaining tied the game at 49-49 and sent it into a second OT.
Unaka held a 49-47 lead when Ridgeview rushed the ball upcourt to attempt a game-tying shot. A Lady Jr. Ranger stood waiting above the box set to take the charge. A major collision occurred but nothing was called.
