The staff at Roan Highlands Nursing Center gave resident Jack Imler a plaque to honor him for his 23 years service with the U.S. Army

Sherry Starnes said the staff wanted to recognize Roan Highlands’ residents who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Seven men who have served in World War II, the Korean or the Vietnam War were given certificates or a plaque for their services.

Staff members said Roger Mills served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Vietnam War. Ronald Young, an airplane engineer, worked for all branches of the military – not one branch was left out during Young’s time in the service.
