The Watauga Valley Art League will meet Saturday, April 20, at the Johnson City Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. An informal art critique begins at 10:30 a.m. for those interested.
The speaker for the April WVAL meeting will be Scott Manning. He will speak on new materials that are currently relevant to painting. Manning lives in Knoxville and attended the University of Tennessee. He is general manager of Jerry’s Artarama in Knoxville.
As an artist himself, working with pencil, watercolor, acrylic, ink and recently encaustics, he will be able to talk artist to artist. During the event, he will talk about new materials that are currently available in the painting world.
He will describe how to work with certain products and the good and bad of materials.
There will be hand-outs of coupons, door prizes and literature.
Some of WVAL artists’ artwork may be seen on the League website at www.watauga-valley-artists.com.
