Sheriff: Alcohol a factor in deadly stabbing of local teens

Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes said alcohol consumption was an apparent factor in a knife fight early Sunday morning that left one local teen dead and another fighting for his life in an area hospital.
Two other teens face charges: a 14-year-old was charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault, and a 16-year-old was charged with tampering with evidence.
“It’s a first for me,” Mathes said. “I don’t ever recall having kids this young involved in violent crime.”
