Small plane crashes near Boone, NC., pilot injured
BOONE, N.C. (AP) – Authorities say a small plane has crashed near the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina, but that the sole person on board suffered only minor injuries.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters said late Friday that the crash occurred at about 6 p.m. near Boone, in the northern part of the state.
Peters said the man was flying a Canadian-registered Ultralight. He said the agency doesn’t ordinarily investigate crashes involving Ultralights, which don’t have to meet the standards of aircraft.
He said he didn’t know where the flight originated. Local law-enforcement officers will complete the investigation.
