Smythes follow mission path from Guatemala City to Doe River Gorge

Jeff and Pam Smythe’s mission path has taken them from the urban center of Guatemala City to the mountains of Carter County as they work to follow God’s will in their effort to serve Him as missionaries.

The Smythes now work at Doe River Gorge where they have been since 1999. Prior to that, they were missionaries in Guatemala City, Guatemala, for five years while Jeff worked as a missionary pilot for Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Jeff started working toward being a missionary while in college when he felt the call from God to go into the mission field. He said growing up as the son of a pastor he had always looked up to missionaries and pastors. He was attending Bible college in Georgia when he met some other students who were the children of missionaries. They told him about the missionary aviation field which piqued his interest.
