Snap-on hosting Summer Spectacular Car Show

By

The Stateline Drive-In won’t be the only place for Elizabethton car-lovers to be this weekend.
Snap-on Tools will host the Summer Spectacular Car Show Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Elizabethton plant on Stateline Road.

Open to all vehicles, the car show will be a fundraiser for the Sycamore Shoals Hospital Foundation.

The show is free to spectators, but donations are appreciated. For show participants, there is a fee of $10 for those who preregister and $15 for those who sign up the day of the show.

This isn’t Snap-on’s first car show fundraiser for the community.

“We had one in 2010 for the Relay For Life,” said Snap-on Human Resources Manager Robin Allen. “We have had a little bit of a break from fundraising and we thought this would be a nice way to help.”

The car show will be a judged event: Winners will be selected for best truck, muscle car, street rod, pro-street car, rat rod, modern 2000 to current, all original, longest haul and people’s choice.

The people’s choice will be selected by which car collects the most donations from the spectators at the car show.

Winners will receive a plaque and a trophy. The trophy will feature a Snap-on wrench at the top.
“It is a pretty cool trophy,” Allen said.

As an added treat, Snap-on will also offer plant tours during the car show. Allen said there is interest in the community about what Snap-on does, so the plant will open its doors to the community during the car show.

The show will also include music, and food vendors will be on-site.

Proceeds will be used by the Sycamore Shoals Hospital Foundation to benefit patients and their families at the hospital.
