An opportunity to play college baseball for the defending national champions? A potential early-round selection in next year’s Major League Baseball draft?
It’s been quite the journey for a young man who was in Mrs. Vera Peters’ kindergarten class at West Side Elementary one decade ago, and received his first taste in athletics as a member of a local basketball and soccer squad.
Today, after years of hard work on the baseball diamond, Handsome Monica has already committed to the reigning College World Series champion Arizona Wildcats and is a rising name in prep baseball circles.
“The whole process has been amazing,” said Handsome’s father and Elizabethton native John Monica. “As a parent, I am very proud of him and his accomplishments. He works very hard, both athletically and academically.”
