Sophia Mari Rose Murillo, 22, 515 Maple Street, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Johnson City Medical Center.

 

She was born in Portland, Ore., to the late Jesus Avelar-Murillo and Deborha Blankenship Buckles.

 

Miss Murillo had been employed by Sonic, Elizabethton, as manager-shift trainer. When at Elizabethton High School, Miss Murillo was a soccer star and chosen MVP three years in a row.

 

She was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandmother, Norma Blankenship; brother, AJ Buckles; and beloved friend, Josh Harmon.

 

Miss Murillo is survived by her mother and poppa, Deborha and Anthony Buckles; brothers, Joshua Tigert and Christopher and Wesley Buckles; sisters, Canaan Tigert and Delana Buckles; maternal grandfather, William Blankenship, Welches, Ore.; uncle, Greg Church, Hampton; best friend, J.J. Orr, Elizabethton; friends, Christopher Bennett, Kisha Oliver and Denise Nelms, and future brother-in-law, Kent Dykes, all of Elizabethton; and many other friends and family.

 

The funeral service for Miss Murillo will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Ensor Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Tigert, J.J. Orr, Chris Bennett, Brandon King, Jake Peterson, Jeff Alman, Alex Dykes and Chris Harrington. Honorary pallbearers will be Erick Rucker, Greg Church, JoJo Estep, Travis Dykes, George Shoun, Travis Harrington, Ben Turner, Glenn Bennett, Justin Wilson, Greg Carrier, Sam Rucker, Brandon Hicks and Tim Procini. For those who prefer, donations may be made to the family at 515 Maple Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 instead of flowers.
