St. Mary’s to host annual fall festival
Remember the good times you have had at an old-time country fair? St. Mary’s Catholic Church will revive those memories and provide a lot of fun for children and adults at its annual Fall Festival.
The festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the church grounds, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City.
Among the activities will be games, inflatables, a cakewalk, face painting and hay rides. Armbands for unlimited access to these activities are available for $20 prior to the festival and $25 the day of the event.
Separate tickets for food and soft drinks can also be purchased. The food will include authentic homemade Mexican dishes, such as tamales, enchiladas, tacos and burritos and standard festival fare, such as hot dogs, bratwurst and cotton candy.
“But the fun and fellowship at the festival will be priceless,” said Father Peter Iorio, pastor of St. Mary’s. “This is a marvelous way for our parishioners and many others in the region who attend our Masses and send their children to our school to come together as the body of Christ. We look forward to seeing everyone.”
After the festival concludes, St. Mary’s will have its weekly vigil Mass at 5 p.m., followed by a barbeque dinner in the church basement from 6-8 p.m.
Tickets to the dinner are $10 for anyone 12 and older and $5 for children 5-11. The adult menu consists of a barbeque sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans, soft drink and dessert. The children’s menu features a hot dog, fruit, chips, soft drink and dessert.
Proceeds from the festival and dinner will benefit the church.
