Standoff ends in city without injuries

Numerous officers with the Elizabethton Police Department responded to a residence on East H Street on Monday after 4 p.m. on the report of an armed subject.

According to police scanner chatter, officers were able to take the weapon from the subject about 4:40 p.m. The man had been in a house on East H Street between Cedar Avenue and Holston Avenue. He was taken into custody.

EPD officials at the scene would not release any details about the incident. Chief Matt Bailey said the department would issue a press release regarding the incident.
