The lineup for the Twang Bangers, shown here in a publicity photo, consists of Wes Holtsclaw, Tyler McCoy, Clint Riddle, Brent Strange and Burl Williams.
As a child, Wes Holtsclaw thought he wanted to be a lawyer when he grew up.
When he reached high school, he discovered that he enjoyed sports journalism. He started writing during his junior year in high school. He continues that career as a sports writer with the Elizabethton STAR. He is also a former sportswriter for The Erwin Record.
Over the past several years, Wes found something else he enjoys doing: Entertaining people.
“My biggest love has always been music,” Wes said. “My father, Ricky Holtsclaw, was lead vocalist of a rock band in the region called “Savage,”’ back in the late ’70s,” he said. Today, Ricky Holtsclaw plays bluegrass.
Wes has been surrounded by song all his life.
