Right hander Kohl Stewart, the Twins first round pick in the 2013 draft made his debut for Elizabethton fans on Tuesday night at Joe O’Brien Field and showed why he was the fourth player taken.
Stewart, 18 out of Houston, Tx. struck out eight, walked one and surrendered one base hit in his four innings of work as the Twins stopped Greeneville 10-8 to sweep the three game series and close to within two games of the Astros for first place in the Appalachian League’s West Division.
“Whatever Stuart called I just tried to stick with,” said Stewart of his catcher Stuart Turner. “He called a great game and it was a good job on his part. I didn’t really have my curveball tonight, but my fastball was up there and my slider starting coming around in the second.
“We called a lot of sliders from then on.”
