A young nucleus led Sullivan East over the Happy Valley’s Lady Warriors 51-35 Friday night, but it was the savvy seniors that closed the game out.
“I’m not sure that you can call them freshmen and sophomores anymore,” Sullivan East head coach Allan Aubrey said of the six underclassmen on his roster. “On the other hand our seniors are great. They are huge parts of what we do and a lot of our toughness comes from them.”
Sophomores Brandy Watkins (12 points), Caitlin Stewart (11 points), and Kara Stafford (10 points) helped the Lady Patriots overpower Happy Valley in the first three quarters at Bayless Gym. But it was the two seniors — Jamison Shaffer (9 points) and Kait Nidiffer (8) — who accounted for eight points in the final quarter to close the game.
