T.A. Dugger girls deny Unicoi

The T.A. Dugger softball team broke out in all three phases of the game on Wednesday evening to hand Unicoi County Middle School its first loss of the season, 5-1 at Elizabethton High School.

Sarah Hardin pitched a gem and the Lady Junior Cyclones (14-1, overall) played stellar defense and took advantage of three Lady Junior Blue Devil errors in the Little Eight Conference victory.

“Sarah pitched a heck of a game,” said T.A. Dugger head coach Bonnie Peters. “She has come through the last few games and the team came through with the basic plays and did it when they needed to. They came to play ball today.”

Hardin retired the last 12 Lady Blue Devil hitters of the game after UCMS went ahead in the top of the third on an RBI hit by Neelee Griffith. She gave up just four hits, and struck out four and surrendered just one walk in going the distance.
