Three-pointers key Jr. Bulldog victory

You might not have known you were indoors at Hampton Elementary on Monday evening because it was raining. Raining 3-pointers, that is.

The Junior Bulldogs rained eight threes on Cloudland Elementary — six delivered by Dru Owens — in a 74-32 conference victory.

Owens finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-for-12 shooting and Jared Andrews scored 22 as Hampton (8-1) swept the Junior Highlanders in conference play.

What looked like a Lady ’Landers blowout win turned into a tense affair by the fourth quarter as cold free-throw shooting allowed the Lady Bulldogs to make a fourth-quarter run.

Cloudland led 21-9 at the half as Hampton connected on just 3-of-8 from the stripe while the ’Landers dominated inside. Post Olivia Chambers had 10 of her team-high 11 points in the first half, but several CES girls ran into foul trouble after intermission.
