A hearing scheduled Thursday for Tiffani Marie Holston, charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child neglect,
was moved to Nov. 8 after attorneys met privately with Judge Robert Cupp.
Assistant District Attorney General Dennis Brooks and public defender Melanie Sellers, who represents Holston, discussed the case in Cupp’s chambers before Cupp announced his decision to the court.
“This matter needs to be resolved,” Cupp said. “Ms. Sellers will be back here on Nov. 8, and that’s when we need to get this thing through.”
On Oct. 11, 2012, Holston’s 4-year-old son, Joshua, was killed when he was struck by a dump truck at the intersection of Broad Street and Lynn Avenue. On Nov. 13, 2012, a Carter County grand jury indicted Holston on first-degree murder and child neglect charges.
