JOHNSON CITY — The coach has arrived, so East Tennessee State football is officially back.
On Friday afternoon at the Millenium Center, Carl Torbush was introduced as the Bucs’ new coach. The program was dropped a decade ago, and ETSU will field a team in 2015.
“Everybody loves a winner, and I haven’t lost a ball game yet — so this is an exciting time,” Torbush, 61, said. “This is a great, great time to be here in East Tennessee, and one thing you’ll find out about me is I’m not going to take myself too seriously. My most important thing is to make sure everybody that comes to work every day has a great experience, enjoys coming and being part of East Tennessee State’s football program to be where it needs to be.”
“I can’t tell you how excited I am for this opportunity. At this stage, being here for many, many years, it’s a great opportunity.”
