Whether you are looking for an original gift that showcases Appalachian spirit, hoping to take the children to visit with Santa outside the long lines of the mall or you simply want to enjoy the camaraderie and a visit in the mountains, the Tourism Open House in Townsend has you covered.
On Friday, Dec. 6, an Open House will be held at the Smoky Mountain Visitors Center at Townsend from 1 to 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy refreshments, visit with Santa Claus and browse the Great Smoky Mountains Association’s store, which has a variety of items available, including children’s gifts; apparel; books about the Smoky Mountains and its families; and signature logo wear.
Guests can also learn more about things to do in the Smokies at the Visitors Center and get brochures on regional attractions.
“We want to kick off the holiday season by thanking our community and visitors for their support throughout the year,” said Tami Vater, director of tourism for the Blount Partnership. “It will be a great way for everyone to come together to celebrate and an ideal time for visitors to interact with our area businesses.
And, of course it’s a great opportunity to find that perfect gift for someone on your list while supporting the Great Smoky Mountains Association!”
Pictures will not be taken with Santa, but everyone is welcome to bring a camera and take their own photos.
The Smoky Mountain Visitors Center at Townsend is located at 7906 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway.
