TwoPence Productions promises unforgettable performances of ‘Phantom of the Casbah’

By

For years, rumors have circulated around Johnson City about the spirit that walks within the walls of the famed Casbah.

Find out if those rumors are true in a new stage production at this Walnut Street venue.

It is the out-of-town tryout for yet another “Phantom” musical. Producer Clinton Slade is attempting to keep peace and mollify the artistic force behind the production, the genius impresario, Marco Virelli. Marco is being his usual temperamental and difficult self. He is imperious with his sister, Theresa, his wife, Alexis, and his boorish brother-in-law, Timmy. Maria, the ingenue, is the only one with whom he has any patience.

Producer Slade watches as his show, and his investment, go “down the drain” after one of the principal players is murdered. Among the suspects is another “Phantom”…but this one isn’t a member of the cast…and he doesn’t seem very happy.

Budding detectives will engage in an interactive mystery while relaxing in the Casbah Theater’s cozy atmosphere and enjoying the wide selection of choices from the bar. The producers of fantastic hit shows like the hard-boiled “Funeral for a Gangster,” the mystifying “Murder by Magic,” the malevolently melodic “Murder, Country Style,” now bring you this hilarious new production.

Show dates are Friday and Saturday nights, Aug. 10 through Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $18 plus tax and include a delectable dessert and coffee. Please call 202-3660 for reservations. For more information, please visit www.twopenceproductions.com.

Due to adult language and themes, mature audiences only please.

Upcoming shows include Jonathon Larson’s “Rent” and the cult classic, “The Rocky Horror Show.”
