UH pegged as WVC softball favorite

For years it was pretty obvious who the frontrunner was going to be in the Watauga Valley Conference softball race. Unaka dominated the league under hall of fame coach Ronnie Hicks, but was dethroned by University High last year as the Lady Jr. Bucs went on to reach the state tournament.
The Bucs were bumped from the state tournament by Chattanooga Grace, which went on to win the Class A championship. The league coaches agree that UH will be the favorite to win its second consecutive title, but could face some strong opposition from the other four teams because of so much parity in the league.
