Live by the three and die the three. Happy Valley’s relentless long-rang bombing would help them write their own obituary against Unaka on Monday.
The Lady Rangers elected to take the ball inside and shot a good percentage. Unaka’s 55-51 win inside Snavely Gymnasium was a big momentum booster going into the district tournament. But they nearly let it slip away at the end.
“We played with a passion tonight after absolutely no effort at all on Saturday,” said Unaka coach Wes Wright. “I thought we were a very scrappy and got a lot of 50-50 balls. We did a much better job on the boards tonight after getting whipped there on Saturday. This was a bit test for us because Happy Valley’s got a good ballteam. We challenged our kids tonight and they stepped up. It was good effort and I’m proud of them.”
