United Way has 10 percent of campaign goal pledged

Almost 10 percent of the United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County’s campaign goal has been pledged, one month after the official launch of the 2012 campaign.

The United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County has appointed two new members to the board of directors. Chairman Sheriff Chris Mathes welcomes Andrew McKeehan and Andrew Worley to the board. Also pictured is United Way Director Debbie Guy and vice-chair Candy Craig.

As of Monday, the United Way had received pledges of $17,505 toward the goal of $182,000. At the kickoff in early September, the United Way had received pledges of $10,000 for the campaign.

United Way Director Debbie Guy said the pledges were coming in to the agency faster this year than in the past.

“We are above where we were last year,” Guy said. “The businesses are still working on their campaigns, so the pledges are still coming in. It is still a work in progress.”
