The Elizabethton/Carter County United Way kicked off its 2013 Campaign Tuesday with the plan to “Go for Two” and meet its campaign goal for the second year in a row.
The United Way started the campaign with $28,000, or 18 percent, of the $156,000 campaign goal already raised.
2013 Campaign Chair Dale Fair referenced this year’s football campaign theme when urging the board members, agency representatives and volunteers to work hard toward reaching this year’s goal.
“This is the kickoff,” Fair said. “This is not the middle or the end of the game. We have been through the preseason. We have made the playbook. We have been through the two-a-days. This is the kickoff and where we get started.”
Fair said he was confident the United Way could reach the campaign goal for the second year in a row. He added that he had another personal goal that the community could “Go for Two” and raise $200,000 total.
