‘Unleashed’ thoroughly chronicles history of Hampton High football

Those of us who have followed or covered Carter County sports over the years can match faces, coaches and players to local schools.

There’s Bayless at Happy Valley, Rider at Elizabethton, Orr at Cloudland, Ensor at Unaka and Campbell at Hampton.

However, in my 28 years growing up as an avid reader and eventual writer of the Elizabethton Star, when I think about Hampton football I also think about the guy on the sidelines in the St. Louis R a m s j a c k e t putting the prep careers of the Taylor’s and Townsend’s to print.
