UT expert gives tips for parent-teacher meetings
KNOXVILLE (AP) — A University of Tennessee expert has some tips for parents on how to make the best of parent-teacher conferences.
Matt Devereaux is a child development specialist and an associate professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at UT-Knoxville.
His tips include parents sharing as much as they can about a child’s home life, such as a divorce, that could affect the child’s behavior in school.
And he says the best way for parents to stay in communication with the teacher and what’s going on at school is to help out in the classroom, or participate in school functions.
