Walk to End Alzheimer’s set Saturday at VA campus

The 2012 Johnson City Walk to End Alzheimer’s event will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Veterans Affairs Mountain Home Gazebo, beginning at 10 a.m.

Featured will be live entertainment, a health and wellness area, kids zone and canine corner.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The walk, held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, draws walkers of all ages and even some dogs.

Alzheimer’s disease is now the nation’s leading cause of death, for which there is no cure or prevention.

Walkers can register at www.alz.org/walk. Individuals and teams can also register prior to the walk Saturday. Registration is free.
