More than 20 artists and writers, both local and regional, will be guests at RobCon 2013, an annual comic book, toy and fantasy convention that will be held in Bristol at Viking Hall on Saturday, July 27.
A Batmobile replica, always a Bristol favorite, will be parked out front during the convention. Jeremy Ambler, who has portrayed a zombie on AMC’s The Walking Dead, will be a featured guest.
Artists include Gary Kwapisz from Lebanon who has worked on such comics as “The Punisher” and “Conan’ and is currently producing “Civil War Adventures.” Other artists at the show will include Todd Goodwin from Old World Comics, Brett Cook and Clint Blevins, both from Bristol, Bridgit Scheide of Charlotte, N.C., and Gene Tipton and Jeremy Massie of Wise, Va.
Making his first appearance at Rob-Con will be DC and Marvel comic book colorist Rico Renzi.
There will also be book authors represented, including Jennifer Estep, best known for her Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series, and Bristol’s Misty Martin, as well as James Crawford and Natasha Larry.
A panel taught by Tangent Artist Studios’ Monica Marier and David Joria will demonstrate “How to Create An Online Comic.” Another popular event of the RobCon, the Costume Contest, with categories for both children and adults, will begin at 3 p.m.
Hours for the convention will be 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and children under 10 admitted for free. For more information, call 274-0450 or 929-8245 or visit www.BristolRobCon.com.
