A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Bessie Humphrey O’Quinn.
Mrs. Scalf was a homemaker and a member of Cripple Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Scalf; a son, Donald Scalf; two sisters, Louise Powers and Blanche Clawson; and three brothers, Claude O’Quinn, Henry O’Quinn and Frank O’Quinn.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Scalf and his wife, Carol, Watauga; two sisters, Doris Lash, Elizabethton, and Delores Brown, Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Richard O’Quinn, Watauga; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service for Mrs. Scalf will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, in the George Mottern Cemetery with Pastor Conrad Goodman and Rev. J.W. Mann officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, 211 North Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
