Senior night inside of Bayless Gymansium provided the perfect setting for a team desperately needing a win.
Brennen Bailey’s runner with two seconds remaining allowed Happy Valley to gut out a 58-56 win in two overtimes over University High Monday night.
It was just what the doctor ordered for Chuck Babb’s cagers, who played their hearts out in a loss to Elizabethton on Friday. And several players would inject key plays that proved to be the perfect medicine for a Warrior victory.
University High led 13-11 after one and was up 28-23 at the half. Play was sloppy at times but Babb’s halftime message must have been stern — and the adjustments made were spot on. The Warriors emerged from the locker room with a little swagger in their steps, and a will to win that proved to be second to none.
