Washington College wins big in Babe Ruth

Smacking a combined 28 hits in two games, the Washington College-sponsored squad from Jonesborough swept a pair of games on Tuesday evening at Elizabethton High School in National Babe Ruth play.
The Pioneers opened with a 16-1 win over Piney Bluff Braves and completed the night with a 15-0 win over Horace Mann Insurance as twin brothers Jonathan and Jeremy Collins combined on a perfect game in the nightcap.
“I had a nice breaking ball going,” said Jeremy Collins, who started for Washington College. “But mostly my two-seam fastball kept running. I kept them off speed with the breaking ball. We hit the ball real well and we just had it today.”
