Julia Renee Roberson and Charles Lee Guinn were united in marriage in an outdoor gazebo ceremony at the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 3 p.m. Rev. Lester Guinn, the groom’s great-uncle, officiated the double-ring exchange of vows.
The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Beverly Roberson of Elizabethton. She is the granddaughter of the late Orville and Nola Roberson and the late Myrtle Peterson.
The groom is the son of Charles and Patricia Guinn of Watauga. He is the grandson of Charles and Shelby Guinn of Watauga and the late Verlye Waldrop.
Channing Taylor, cousin of the bride, was in charge of music. Photography was provided by Heather Green, a family friend, and Micheal Taylor, the bride’s uncle, videoed the wedding.
The bride was given away in marriage by her father.
Amanda Bowling attended her sister as matron of honor, and a close friend, Cassie Broyles, served as her bridesmaid. The groom’s niece, Temperance Lovette, walked as the flower girl.
Two good friends attended the groom at his wedding, Anthony Scalf as his best man and Justin Stacy as his groomsman.
A reception followed the ceremony. Billie Merritt, aunt of the bride, Shannon Guinn, cousin of the groom, and Judy Bowling, a family friend, tended the food. Their guests enjoyed a variety of finger foods. A white buttercream wedding cake and a chocolate “New England Patriots” groom’s cake were made by the bride.
The newlyweds spent a week-long honeymoon in St. Lucia and currently reside in Watauga.
